Gravis Footwear
Founded in Burlington, Vermont in 1998, Gravis Footwear has been making quality sneakers, clothing, and bags that are comfortable, stylish and functional for over a decade. Gravis grew out of the Burton Snowboarding company, and maintains its ties to the action sports community with their design aesthetic, and by sponsoring surfers, snowboarders, and skateboarders on their pro tours. Gravis was blazing trails from the very beginning, offering up some of the first flex-fit style hats that are now ubiquitous, and comfortable stylish leather slip-ons. Gravis is committed to bringing in fresh designers and collaborating to put out fresh new looks consistently. Gravis derives its creative inspiration from sport, classic design, contemporary music and urban art, and combines these elements into every product it makes. Working closely with a team of professional snowboarders, surfers, musicians, and artists, Gravis develops shoes, bags, and accessories for today's active lifestyle.
Brand History
Gravis began in 1998 with a small line of bags, sneakers, and hats that targeted the skateboarding lifestyle, the "skate" arm of Burton Snowboards. The company has grown and now offers a full line of men's and women's sneakers and sandals, backpacks, messengers, ipod accessories, shirts, hoodies, hats, purses, wallets and a few other random things.
Gravis opened a flagship concept store in Harajuku Tokyo in September of 2005 in the heart of downtown Tokyo, named "Gravis Tokyo."
Recent Collections
The current fall/holiday lineup is perhaps the best ever from Gravis, mixing in some fresh corduroy and wool treatments in the men's sneakers and bags, and some great colorways and patterns for the women.
For The Boys
Check out the
Cey Adams Transit line collaboration
here. Cey is a respected artist that has collaborated with the Beasties, Redman and others. The collection is described as "street flavor and athletic court profiles pair with poppy colors and classic throwback details." Pictured are the corded up "Lowdown," the shelltoe style "Vito," and the women's "Comet Mid" with slick velcro strap across the top.

DJ Kid Millionaire (aka Steve Aoki),
A-Trak,and T. Raumschmiere teamed up to create the exclusive
Black Box collection of clothing, bags, and shoes for DJ's that are on the move.
Gravis bags are great for commuting and for travelling, a stylish take on the modern messengers and backpacks. The bags are designed for use, and the gadget and computer pockets are top-notch. Here are just a few: The Gravis Metro Plaid gives the standard backpack some style, using a plaid wool and leather combination to dress things up a little. The Gravis Austin does the same for a black messenger, using cracked leather and distressed canvas. The Gravis Nomad is the bag to rock while you are flying if you are a sneaker and gadget fiend (125 liter capacity, ventilated shoe compartment, plenty of secure pockets for your gadgets, and a sick Gravis lining).

For The Ladies
Some recent ladies kicks: The Makani Racer in a sick Sour Apple colorway, the crazy comfortable Kai Racer, and the women's Lowdown that gets just a tiny bit of pink treatment:

And, finally, some women's purses and bags from Gravis : The Gravis Hyannis gets a light touch of pink and a solid dose of herringbone, the Gravis Madison LE is a smooth combo of chocolate suede and cream canvas, and the Gravis Addie is a bit less rugged-looking, but still has an interesting print to make it a bit more modern:
