SkyCaddie GPS Golf Course Navigation

2

I am always excited to see any product that can make sports more fun. I'm a little surprised it has taken this long for a product like the SkyCaddie G4, essentially a GPS geared towards the golf course, to arrive. But this gadget is going to enhance your golf experience.

The SkyCaddie comes loaded with golf course maps instead of the conventional city and trail maps that normal GPS's come with. With this information loaded, it can tell you how far you are away from the green, no matter where you are. It can also report your position and tell you if there's something of interest that might be hidden from your view (sand bunker perhaps).

The information is displayed via a monochrome 160x120 screen. It has a 12 hour battery life and is water resistant, perfect for those long rainy games. There is a required membership fee of between $29.95 to $59.95, depending on the courses you get access to. My city has a nine golf courses and none are currently mapped. In fact, in California, only courses in cities starting with the letters A-F are mapped. Interestingly, players can map their own courses and upload the data for the benefit of others. Nothing like community based data! | Via OhGizmo! |
